Biography: Yang Zhilu

Yang Zhilu is a high-level talent introduced by Southern Medical University, serving as a Research Fellow and Ph.D. Supervisor. Ranked among the world’s top 2% most cited scientists, he is the recipient of the First Prize of the Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Society for Biomaterials and the First Prize of Tianjin Technology Invention Award. He also serves as a board director of Guangzhou Nanchuang Zhufeng Medical Technology Co., Ltd.

Internationally, Dr. Yang is the Founding Editor-in-Chief of the journal Smart Materials in Medicine, Deputy Editor of the Chinese Association for Science and Technology flagship journal Research, and an editorial board member of Bioactive Materials. Domestically, he holds leadership roles as Deputy Director of the Vascular Branch of the Chinese Anatomical Society and Standing Committee Member of the Rehabilitation Devices and Biomaterials Branch of the Chinese Society for Biomaterials.

His research focuses on cardiovascular biomaterials and regenerative medicine. He has led over 10 provincial/national projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China (International/Regional Cooperation and Exchange Program), Guangdong Basic and Applied Basic Research Foundation (Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Research Team Project), and Sichuan Outstanding Young Scientists Fund. As a corresponding/first author, he has published more than 70 papers in prestigious journals such as PNAS, Nature Communications, The Innovation, Advanced Functional Materials, and Advanced Science (average impact factor >11). He holds 33 authorized invention patents, among which a patent for vascular stent coating technology was licensed for equity transfer worth 15 million RMB.
