Ningbo University Health Science Center Successfully Hosts the 2024 Medical Education Forum for Local Comprehensive Universities

On November 29th, the "2024 Medical Education Forum for Local Comprehensive Universities," organized by the Ningbo University Health Science Center and hosted by the Ningbo University Medical Education Research and Development Center, was successfully convened. Zhang Zhenzhu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the university, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. The forum aimed to promote medical education exchange and cooperation, enhance the quality and level of medical education, drive reform and innovation in medical education, and advance the exceptional development of medical education at local universities. More than 100 experts and scholars from Sun Yat-sen University, Soochow University, Harbin Medical University, Capital Medical University, Chongqing Medical University, and many other institutions within Zhejiang Province gathered to discuss medical education teaching reform and innovation at local comprehensive universities, explore new models for cultivating outstanding medical talents in the new era, and how to continuously improve the quality and level of medical education based on clinical medicine program certification.

At the opening ceremony, Zhang Zhenzhu warmly welcomed the guests and introduced the development journey of Ningbo University and its Health Science Center. He stated that the Ningbo Municipal Government highly values the development of medical education, considering the growth and strengthening of Ningbo University's Health Science Center as a key component of the city’s “Medical Peak” initiative. The double-base construction project for the Health Science Center has been launched. Furthermore, the university has been committed to reform and innovation in medical education, taking the lead in launching reforms in medical education management systems, innovating the operational mechanisms of the Health Science Center, and better promoting its development. He expressed his hope that the attending experts would offer valuable opinions and guidance on the development of our clinical medicine programs and disciplines, and wished for the continuous improvement of the clinical medicine program to cultivate more outstanding medical talents for Ningbo and the nation, contributing to the construction of a healthy China.

The forum featured several highlights with many experts in the field of medical education sharing their insights. Deng Shixiong, former Deputy Secretary and Vice President of Chongqing Medical University, presented a theme report titled "Leveraging Professional Certification to Consolidate Talent Training Foundations, Continuously Enhancing Educational Quality." Wang Shuzhen, Deputy Dean of Sun Yat-sen University's Sun Yat-sen School of Medicine, shared her experiences and explorations on cultivating outstanding medical talents in the new era in her report "Zhongshan Practice and Exploration in Cultivating Outstanding Medical Talents in the New Era." Ma Xiaorui, Deputy Dean of the Graduate School at Capital Medical University, discussed "Exploration of Graduate Training in Medical Professions in the New Era." Gong Zheng, Deputy Dean of Soochow University's Suzhou Medical College, also gave a theme report titled "Reform and Development of Medical Education Teaching in Local Comprehensive Universities," providing valuable thoughts and inspiration for attendees.

Furthermore, Professor Yang Libin from Harbin Medical University, Wang Min, Deputy Dean of Jiaxing University's Medical College, Xia Kaiyu, Director of the Teaching Department at Wenzhou Medical University's First Affiliated Hospital, and Jin Xin, Deputy Dean of Shaoxing University's College of Medicine, among others, shared their practical experiences and deep insights into clinical medicine program certification from various perspectives. By interpreting the key indicators and requirements of the clinical medicine program certification standards, they facilitated a clear understanding of the specific requirements, processes of certification for attendees, helping them identify existing issues and deficiencies, and formulating effective improvement measures.
